Is Skydiving Really Worth The Risk?
Skydiving isn’t without risk. You could be injured skydiving. You can even be killed skydiving. Yikes! Is skydiving worth the risk you’re taking? You can probably guess that our answer is going to be a resounding “yes,” as we’ve built a thriving business around the art and science of skydiving…but we want you to understand why skydiving is worth the risk, and why the many thousands of people who skydive every year agree with us.
Skydiving Offers Perspective
The grind of everyday life takes a hefty toll! Day after day, you wake up at 5:30am, shower, shave, gobble down breakfast, rush out the door, slurp your coffee as you slog through rush hour traffic, work from 9 to 5 (or 6, or 7…), trundle home for dinner, zone out scrolling, fall asleep, then jolt up at your alarm clock to do it all again. This hamster-wheel life can lull a person right into zombiehood. Skydiving comes as an awakening–a mighty reset button that forces you to question things that need to be questioned. (Example: “Am I Living My Life as Well as I Could Be?” Yeah. That.)
Skydiving Is Soul-Deep
The advertising for your standard tandem skydive hawks the jump’s speed; the adrenaline; the novelty. Advertising, of course, ain’t real life. The truth of skydiving goes much deeper than the thrill. It does something to you–for you, really–on an innate level. In life, we all are wearing a mask. In skydiving, we get to take the mask off and be who we truly are. On a skydive, we are one with the moment. We are free.
Skydiving Is Therapy
Y’know that day-to-day stuff? Those worries and frustrations that swim around in your mind, popping rudely up to the surface when you’re trying to get to sleep, or spend quality time with your loved ones, or give your full attention to some great music or a book? Those niggling little worms of worry dig into everything we do as we hustle around down here. Up there, however, they dissolve. Yep–we said it: On a skydive, they are GONE. During a skydive, you’re basically suspended in time. Even if it only lasts for a few minutes, that time free from petty problems is solid gold.
Skydiving Is The Answer To A More Interesting Question
“Is skydiving worth the risk?” That question demonstrates a failure of imagination. “What can I do to prove to myself that I am *not* a shuffling zombie in a predetermining world–that my own personal power–my own sense of possibility–extends far beyond what I currently think it might?” Now you’re talking. And you know the answer to that, now.
A life lived without any risk isn’t just vanilla, it’s dangerously close to zombie status. Fight the zombie apocalypse–go skydiving. We at Skydive California are here to help you do it!
